CONSENSUS RANKING:1st Guokas: 1st Jones: 1st Thomas: 1st Walton: 1st |

Guokas: Its a good, solid, well-disciplined team that knows how to perform and get things done in the playoffs. Youd rather go into those playoff wars with veterans whove played together and know how to play and wont get whacked out over one bad game. Theyre pretty much on an even keel. Jones: They have a great homecourt record and a great attitude at home. They all understand their roles. This is a team of great resiliency and resolve. When theyre having trouble playing their game, they know what it takes to get back on track. Everybody knows what the Jazz can do yet Utah still dares teams to stop them and most of the time, they cant. Theyve been to the Finals twice so they should be favored. Thomas: Until you knock the champs out, they still have the edge. Their offense will be a fine-tuned machine. The thing that concerns me right now is they dont appear to be as active defensively in shutting people down. Now, when the playoffs come, will they be able to turn it on and do that? Walton: Theyve got all the pieces. Condensed playoffs work against the older players. Karl Malone is the best player in basketball right now and the most valuable. John Stockton has killed the Lakers in the past. But they have to get consistent support scoring, because it cant just be Stockton and Malone. Greg Ostertag has to want to get physical since thats what the Jazz will see from Portland and the Lakers along the playoff trail. Still the team to beat in the West. |
